Preorder Checklist: Receiving Live Plants by Mail
Use this step-by-step guide to prep your space, unbox healthy rooted cuttings, and keep Longevity Spinach, dragonfruit, and pineapple starters thriving the moment they leave our Florida greenhouse.
Every shipment travels with $7.99 insulated shipping, breathable pots, hotline access, and PDF care cards. Follow the steps below so plants transition smoothly into your space.
Before the box ships
Prep these four things while you wait (~60 days)
-
Stage the sun + airflow plan
Track where you get six hours of bright light. Longevity Spinach thrives in morning sun + afternoon shade, dragonfruit wants full sun with a breeze, and pineapple prefers high light plus drainage. Snap photos so you can text the grower hotline if you need placement advice.
-
Build or refresh containers
Pre-fill breathable nursery pots (6" for spinach, 10"+ for pineapple) with the mixes outlined in the DIY Pineapple Planter Mix and Dragonfruit Trellis Guide. Keep an empty slot ready so the plant slides in immediately.
-
Schedule the greenhouse updates
Set reminders for the day-30 and day-45 emails. Use those checkpoints to double-check soil moisture meters, trellis hardware, and any shade cloth you may need.
-
Save the ritual materials
Bookmark the Longevity Spinach Hub and smoothie + care routine so daily harvest instructions are ready before the plant arrives.

Arrival day
Delivery-day checklist
-
Bring the box inside immediately
Plants can tolerate 2–3 days in transit but dislike hot porches. Track shipments via your Shopify confirmation and plan to be home on delivery day if temps swing.
-
Open along the taped seams
Lay the box on its side, slice the long seam, and lift the top so stems don’t snap. Save the insulation for future shipments or compost it.
-
Inspect foliage + media
Leaves may droop briefly; that’s normal. If soil feels dry 1" down, water with room-temp, chlorine-free water until it drains. If moist, let it breathe.
-
Check for travel stress
Look for snapped tips, soil spillage, or broken ties. Use the hotline number on your care card if anything looks off—we’ll replace or coach you through triage.
-
Stage acclimation zones
Set Longevity Spinach in bright, indirect light for 48 hours. Keep dragonfruit upright against its trellis and shield pineapple from harsh afternoon sun for the first three days.
-
Log the milestone
Snap photos for your own records or to share with newsletter/social customers. Tag @TheSuperfoodFarm and link back to the Preorder Hub.
First 72 hours
Acclimation cadence
Hour 0–6
Let plants rest in bright, indirect light. Lightly mist Longevity Spinach leaves. Keep dragonfruit upright using the included soft tie.
Hour 6–48
Transplant into staged containers or refresh topsoil. Add Mycorrhizae or worm castings to jumpstart roots. Begin gentle airflow with a fan if indoors.
Hour 48–72
Gradually move to final light levels. Start the daily harvest ritual once new growth perks up.
Weeks 1–4
Care calendar after unboxing
- Weekly
- Deep water until you see drainage. Avoid letting pots sit in saucers. Rotate indoor plants a quarter turn.
- Biweekly
- Feed with quarter-strength fish + kelp, especially for Longevity Spinach. Dragonfruit prefers a low-nitrogen cactus feed.
- Monthly
- Top-dress with compost, check trellis ties, and prune any damaged foliage.
- Quarterly
- Refresh mulch, audit drainage holes, and reference the Grow-at-Home Starter Collection to see what new plants you can bundle.

Spot issues fast
Common arrival cues & fixes
Dry soil or wilted tips
Water slowly until it drains, then mist foliage. Keep plants out of direct sun for 24 hours.
Soil spill or loose root ball
Set the plant upright, press soil back around roots, and stake gently. Contact the hotline with photos if stems snapped.
Yellowing lower leaves
Likely stress from low light or overwatering. Move to brighter light and let the top inch of soil dry before watering again.
Heat or chill exposure
Trim any mushy tissue, remove damaged leaves, and keep airflow steady. These plants rebound quickly once temps stabilize.
Still unsure? Reply to your confirmation email or text the grower hotline for real-time support.
Need-to-know
Receiving live plants FAQ
What happens if I miss the delivery?
UPS/USPS will reattempt, but we recommend leaving a cooler or shaded bin if temps are extreme. Message the hotline so we can monitor tracking.
Can I delay shipment?
We ship in waves based on propagation timelines. If you need a short delay, reply to the 7-day reminder email and we’ll adjust if inventory allows.
Do I need to repot immediately?
No, but refreshing the potting mix within the first week helps root vigor. Keep Longevity Spinach in a breathable 6–8" pot until it outgrows it.
Where do I find more instructions?
Browse the Growing Guides library plus the Longevity Spinach ritual for ongoing care.
